My journey in production audio started in 2018 while I was studying physics at Cleveland State University. A good friend of mine, who was studying film at the time, asked if I could record audio for their team's 48-hour film competition. Armed with a Zoom recorder on my belt, a $100 shotgun-microphone from Amazon, and a basic understanding of sound for film, I mixed the project and fell in love with the challenges presented to me by production sound.​

In the years that followed, this love slowly turned into an obsession for me as I learned more about the techniques and equipment. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, I dropped-out of college to pursue a career full-time as a production audio mixer. What followed for me has been a journey I have loved, including work on a cross-country feature film, numerous fascinating documentaries, 40+ episodes of a hidden-camera show with law-enforcement, and a regular role capturing sound at the highest-level with NFL Films (as a former high-school football player and lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, this has truly been a privilege for me).

I enjoy capturing audio under the most difficult conditions and in high-pressure situations. I always strive to work with a customer-service oriented mindset and meticulously prepare myself, my equipment, and my teams so that productions are never "waiting for sound" on-set. I like to get things right the first time.

Alongside location sound work, I also have experience working in trucks and out of fly-packs as a broadcast A1 on technically complicated shows. I ​have worked on most major consoles including Calrec Omega and Brio, am DANTE certified, and can configure RTS intercom systems. On the RF side of things, I have experience deploying and gain-staging large, multi-zone, fiber-based systems and coordinating many frequencies, in congested environments, with wireless gear from multiple manufacturers.

 

​The engaging engineering challenges presented to me by work on-location is not the only thing that draws me to production sound. This career has allowed me see the world, traveling with crews small and large throughout the United States and internationally. I love to travel, especially for long-form projects where consistent and reliable sound is valued. As an avid whitewater kayaker, rock-climber, and backpacker, I have a passion for adventure. All the better when I can combine this passion for travel and the outdoors with my love for production sound. I have built my smaller sound packages with airline transportation in mind and am able to carry-on all of the gear needed for complicated shoots. I am experienced with carnet applications / usage and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
